Internet demand surges amid the pandemic. Having ubiquitous access to mobile Internet is critical to empower more people to stay connected and productive on the move.

Community Marketplace Technology (or better known as CM Tech), a boutique advisory company and the principal operator of myrapidTap transit e-wallet service, collaborates with Simplify to provide premium Wi-Fi service on MyRapid buses in Kuala Lumpur. The collaboration was made official during a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony on May 7th, 2021.

The strategic partnership will see a pilot deployment of Simplify Smarter WiFi on MyRapid buses planned for the second half of 2021. The MoU marks the starting point for a long-term collaboration not only to offer premium Wi-Fi service on public transport in the country but to provide seamless mobility experience for urban commuters riding on CM Tech’s myrapidTap application. Present to sign the MoU were CM Tech Founder and Managing Director, Mr. Herbert Poh and Simplify CEO Mr. Yen Pei Tay. The ceremony is witnessed by representatives from Prasarana, the official operator of myRapid public transportation service.

Connectivity has become an important factor for many urbanites. CM Tech is keen to deliver sustainable connectivity to all Malaysians commuting via public transport.

"Sustainable connectivity must also be coupled with cost effectiveness. And that is why this strategic collaboration with Simplify aims to explore the possibility of providing premium Wi-Fi services for as low as RM1. This especially targets the B40 community, easing their financial burden while keeping them connected during their public transport commute," said CM Tech's Managing Director, Mr. Herbert Poh.
